Digests

Text is encoded as UTF-8 and hashed with Web Crypto (crypto.subtle.digest). Output is lowercase hex. You can switch the display to Base64 of the digest bytes.

File

Open reads a local file as UTF-8 text, up to 50 MB. Larger files are refused and are not loaded.

Privacy

Hashing runs on your device. There is no upload, no account, and no server-side storage of your text.

Which algorithms?

SHA-256 and SHA-512 only. This is a message-digest utility for checksums. It does not store passwords or sign you in.

Does the text leave the browser?

No. Nothing is uploaded. The page does not load an analytics script.

What if the file is too large?

Files larger than 50 MB are not loaded.
